Annabel is currently working on a new collection of portraits featuring vintage Magicians. This collection has already created a huge amount of interest from both magicians and non-magicians. It is to be launched at the International Brotherhood of Magicians convention in September. Finally small prints will be able to be purchased at a price that won't break the bank. Two more projects are in the pipeline: One is a collection of 12 playing card pieces featuring female magicians. There aren’t many, as it is still mainly a male profession. This project will hopefully result in a new deck. The second will be a collection of portraits of iconic contemporary magicians. She has some fantastic people from the magic world on board for these new projects, so please check back often for updates.
Click here to see where you can buy these prints This month, Annabel has taken part in a competition to design an 8 of Clubs. Shelter, the housing charity, has invited 52 of the UK's top artists to design a playing card for an exhibition that forms part of its House of Cards campaign. The winning entry is to provide the final playing card in an all-star deck that includes cards designed by Damien Hirst, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and more. Also, Annabel was pictured in Bizarre Magazine (issue 150), as was the Jill Deck (issue 152). *Please be advised this magazine is not for the faint hearted.
Finally available: The Jill Deck (Where the Jacks are Jills)! To purchase your deck please visit www.jilldeck.com. Working in collaboration with a playing card specialist in Germany, Annabel recently created the Jill Deck. The deck where the Jacks are Jills. The court cards in the Jill Deck are based on Annabel's original paintings of her ‘Beautiful Strangers’ series, as seen in the ‘Sleightly Suggestive’ exhibition at Planet Bazaar in London. With the combination of high-quality playing card stock, and Annabel's iconic figures, I'm sure you'll agree that these cards will take playing Poker to a new level. And for the Magic Enthusiast, Annabel has created a special magic edition of the Jill Deck. She has included several gaffed cards to help make miracles just that much more seductive. There's a color change that...well, you'll just have to see for yourself. The original paintings are currently on display at Illusions Magic Bar in Clifton, Bristol, along with a life size mural of Houdini in the Chinese Water Torture Cell, one his most famous Escapes. The paintings on display are still available for purchase. Please visit www.illusionsmagicbar.co.uk for more details. Launch of Limited Edition range Due to the high demand for Annabel’s original paintings, the first series of limited edition prints, hand-signed by the artist, has now been released. Edition numbers have been kept low, with just 100 reproductions released worldwide for each image, to maintain exclusivity. Old favourites, as well as new images are available, so please click on the link above to browse the collection. Exhibiting at Annabel de Vetten has recently secured permanent exhibition space with Claire Galleries in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, following her successful private view event back in June. Her work is also on display at Fragile Design in Birmingham, a funky retro interior store based in the Custard Factory. Annabel continues to show with Planet Bazaar, London’s ‘top pop shop’ with whom a solo exhibition is currently being negotiated. Annabel is happy to take private commissions and welcomes potential clients to visit her at her studio in the King’s Heath area of Birmingham. Please click here to arrange a visit to the studio to view further works and discuss possible options. New collections Always looking to develop as an artist, Annabel is currently working on a couple of new collections. Whilst continuing to create her trademark iconic portraits, Annabel continues to develop and push herself as an artist, currently working on two new collections. The first takes inspiration from her recent joining of a magic society. Constantly working with playing cards, whilst mastering the magic tricks and techniques, Annabel became fascinated with the concept of creating her own cards, and as such has begun creating a series of ‘beautiful strangers’ in the roles of the Queens. Please see images of the first pieces in this series available in the Limited Editions section. The second is to be a nature-inspired collection. Working closely with a designer florist, Annabel has studied a variety of flowers and is looking to capture them in her signature style. Please check back soon for images of the new pieces. The Pink Ice Ball Annabel has been invited to donate a piece of work to the prestigious Pink Ice Ball. The high-profile event is attended by a number celebrities all helping to raise money for breast cancer research. One of the organisers head-hunted Annabel after seeing her work on exhibition in London, and asked if she would mind donating a piece of her original artwork for the charity auction that closes the event. Annabel is delighted to be involved in an event for such a worthy cause and is currently working on a specially commissioned piece to auction off on the evening, together with a small collection for exhibition at the event, of which all sales proceeds Annabel has kindly offered to donate as well. This year’s event is being held at the Waldorf hotel in London’s west end on 5th October. Please see www.thepinkiceball.co.uk for further information. Please check back soon for more news! |
